Kevin Johnson, President
Kevin began his career at Imperial Rubber, an industrial manufacturer in Nisku, and progressed through several roles in manufacturing engineering working on capital, production, and design projects. After completing his MBA, Kevin left Imperial to be trained as a Six Sigma Black Belt by Maple Leaf Foods where he managed a continuous operation, distribution, and logistics facility.
Kevin’s most recent role, previous to Foremost, was at Afexa Life Sciences , maker of Cold FX, in Edmonton as the Senior Director of Operations, with overall responsibility for manufacturing, distribution, and customer service. During his time at Afexa, Kevin restructured and managed a global supply chain with multiple manufacturing facilities in Canada, the US, and China.
Kevin attained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta, a Masters in Business Administration from Queen’s University, and is a Certified Management Accountant.
Kevin directs both Foremost Mobile Equipment and Foremost Energy Equipment sales organizations, corporate finance, and safety. Kevin is responsible for the P&L, and all business operations of the Calgary business unit including sales, fabrication operations and engineering as well as responsibility for the vacuum truck business segment, covering Calgary, Edmonton, and Stettler.
Mike McCarthy, Sr. Vice President, Operations
Mike began his career with Amoco Production Company in 1986 and spent over 10 years in operational, engineering, and project management positions. In 1996 Mike joined Maloney Industries (now Foremost Calgary South) as a Senior Project Manager and remained with Maloney for over 14 years in progressive senior roles including, Project Manager, Engineering Manager, Director of Manufacturing, and General Manager.
In 2010 Mike left Maloney and joined URS Flint where he served in leadership roles in their Process Equipment division and Strategic Technology Projects Implementations. He rejoined Foremost in August 2014.
Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calgary and has been a registered Professional Engineer with APEGGA since 1989.
As Sr. Vice President of Operations, Mike is responsible for Supply Chain, Corporate IT, and ensuring our Technical Services team is positioned to support our growth drive.
Mike Strilchuk, Vice President – Energy Equipment
Mike attended the University of Alberta where he obtained his Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Finance (1999). Shortly after, he started with Corlac Industries as a Business Analyst, eventually becoming Controller of Corlac and [then] Universal Industries.
In 2007, Mike was promoted to Grande Prairie Regional Manager where he implemented Foremost Universal business processes in a new facility in Hythe to combine De-In Industries and Peaceland Fabrication. In 2009, he served as General Manager of Foremost Industries where he implemented ISO 9001 and API Monogram quality programs, and a new Visibility 7 EP system.
Mike has since moved into General Manager roles for Foremost Lloydminster and now serves as Vice President, Energy Equipment. He is currently responsible for P&L and overall Lloydminster and Bonnyville shop and field operations and leading the Manufacturing Improvement strategic planning initiative.
Jackie Schenn, Vice President, Finance/CFO
Jackie joined Foremost in early 2007, where she started as an Internal Control Manager, moved into the role of Controller, and most recently since May 2012, advanced into her position as Vice President of Finance/CFO.
Jackie grew up on a farm and moved to Saskatoon to pursue her B.Comm at the University of Saskatchewan. Once she obtained her degree, Jackie went straight into the Chartered Accountant program articling with a small Saskatoon-based accounting firm.
Jackie and her husband moved to Lloydminster after obtaining her CA designation to begin her career with Foremost. In her current role, Jackie manages the Finance Department.
Steve Moe, Sales Manager, Energy Equipment
Steve joined the Foremost team in January, 2012 as a Technical Sales Representative. In 2014 he was promoted to the position of Sales Manager.
Steve graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a minor in Commerce. Prior to joining Foremost Steve worked for 26 years in the Golf Industry which included managing two different golf courses over a 17 year period. Steve also served as a Director with the PGA of Alberta board from 2000 – 2009 including 2 years in the position of President.
Zeke Purves-Smith, Counsel
Zeke joined TOM Capital in 2013. He consults to TOM Capital and its investee businesses as legal counsel on corporate and commercial matters.
Zeke graduated from Dalhousie University in 2006. Prior to joining TOM Capital, Zeke articled and worked as an associate at a Calgary-based boutique energy law firm and subsequently, through a merger, as an associate with one of Canada’s major international law firms, before moving in-house at a major Alberta utility company. Zeke also has an MBA degree.
